From its second-story perch in the West Village, Jake Mueser's atelier overlooks Christopher Street like a jewel box. During my last visit, I arrived in the early evening and was immediately struck by the feeling of entering a friend's chic living room. The space was adorned with spiral stairs, Turkish rugs, a bar cart stocked with Negroni ingredients, walls lined with prints, sketches, clothing patterns, and textiles. A client lounged on the leather sofa, sipping a drink and reading a magazine while Jake measured another.
Each garment crafted by J Mueser is meticulously hand-cut to the client's exact specifications. For our Edition 001 piece, we collaborated with Jake to put a twist on the traditional schoolboy blazer. Instead of an oversized replica, Jake proposed an unlined jacket with a more casual and deconstructed feel. The shoulders are slightly oversized, while the length is long and flattering. The exclusive tweed Newchurch fabric by Romney is available only through OST, and for a limited number of orders.
