LORETTA CAPONI

Florentine Embroidery

Walking into Loretta Caponi's boutique in Florence feels like a step into a bygone era. The space is filled with hand-embroidered treasures, including exquisite bed linens, tablecloths, and nightclothes for both women and children. Founder Loretta Caponi began honing her embroidery skills at just nine years old, and by the time she was 14, she was already receiving commissions from wealthy clients. In 1967, she opened her first bottega in an old piano warehouse on Via delle Bonne Donne, where it still stands today. To this day, all of the embroidery at Loretta Caponi is done by hand, and production takes place entirely in-house.

In our collaboration with the house, we took inspiration from traditional Italian school uniforms - blouses with Peter Pan collars worn by boys and girls. We chose white on white linen to evoke the simple elegance of these garments and of linens of the past. The result is a pristine but not precious blouse that we hope will become a staple in your wardrobe.
